At Blacks Fasteners, supporting these causes isn't just about being a socially responsible business - it's about investing in the same communities we live and work in every day.

Blacks Fasteners have been proudly sponsoring the Canterbury Rugby Referees Association for many years. As a Canterbury-based business built in the heart of grassroots rugby, it seemed highly appropriate to support an organisation that does its utmost to help the game we all know and love.

Without the Ref, a game of rugby simply wouldn’t be possible. In 2024, we launched our “Let’s All Support the Ref” campaign in partnership with CRRA to build on our existing relationship. The goal of this initiative was, first and foremost, to recognise and support referees, giving them the recognition they deserve for keeping the game going. We also aimed to inspire more people to consider volunteering as referees and to promote overall positive and respectful behaviour on and off the field.

Every year, we are proud to support the next generation of referee leaders by providing scholarships to three CRRA recipients undertaking tertiary study. These scholarships recognise the hard work, dedication, and commitment of individuals who not only excel in their studies but also contribute to the rugby community.

Each recipient receives a one-off scholarship of $2,500, designed to help them pursue their tertiary studies while continuing to support the rugby community. We encourage all eligible students with a passion for rugby and community involvement to apply.

To be considered, please download the application form below and return it to the CRRA by the stated deadline. All applications will be carefully reviewed, and recipients will be selected based on merit, involvement in the rugby community, and their potential to positively contribute to the game.

Blacks Fasteners is a proud sponsor of the Full Bellies Charity. Full Bellies is a grassroots Christchurch-based charity providing lunch bags to children in primary and intermediate schools. As a local business, we're proud to support funding for an initiative that works directly within our own community, helping ensure children have access to food during the school day.

Full Bellies works closely with schools to deliver a full day of nutritious food in a discreet and respectful way, helping remove the absence of food as a barrier to learning. Full Bellies supports children to actively participate in their learning and engage positively with their education journey while supporting their overall wellbeing.

Blacks Fasteners are pleased to be in an ongoing partnership with the Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust’s Wildside Project. This project, undertaken close to our head office in Christchurch, is a showcase for Canterbury conservation and wildlife.

Other conservation projects we are currently supporting include Blumine Island in the Marlborough Sounds and the Bluff Hill Regeneration in Invercargill. Both areas have unique flora, fauna, and birdlife. It is a privilege to assist the Department of Conservation in protecting our beautiful and unique countryside.
