When isocyanates are added to adhesive bonds, they become substantially more heat, solvent, and water resistant than when no crosslinker is present.
The adherence to all surfaces is significantly increased, particularly with the Bostik 2402 adhesive to rubber and metal.
Bostik's Polyurethane adhesives, such as Unigrip 999 and Ultragrip 777, have significantly improved water and heat resistance. Crosslinking agents are required in some adhesives, such as Bostik's 1659 and 2402 contact adhesives; they are part of the adhesive system.
Isocyanates improve the performance of nitrile adhesives such as Clear Bond. Heat resistance and adhesion are improved. Because of the relatively short pot life after mixing, several Neoprene contact adhesives (such as 1181, 1222, and Super Contact Bond) are not generally used with crosslinking agents.
