Blacks Fasteners announce Outward Bound Course Sponsorship
November 19, 2015
Blacks Fasteners is proud to announce our sponsorship of four placements in the Outward Bound course at Anakiwa in the Marlborough Sounds.
The 21-day 'Mind, Body and Soul' lifeskills course includes sailing, rock climbing, kayaking and other outdoor challenges and will be provided to four 'at risk' young people selected by Child, Youth and Family.
Child, Youth and Family work with the most vulnerable children throughout New Zealand, providing services to children and young people from 0-17 years which includes care and protection and youth justice services.
They work with children, young people and their families with the purpose of providing a secure and safe environment within their home. When a child or young person cannot be cared for at home they may be placed in care with whanau or non kin caregivers. Often this will be for a temporary period while they work with the family and for others this will be a permanent home.
Across the country at the end of June 2015 Child, Youth and Family had 4163 children in out-of-home placements and approximately 700 of these children and young people were from the South Island.
For the Outward Bound course Child, Youth and Family will identify young people throughout the South Island who would benefit from attending the course. It is likely that these young people will be in care.
Blacks Fasteners are proud to offer this opportunity to young people whose circumstances would not normally allow them to attend such a course. We believe this course will be of huge benefit to the young people who will have an experience that will impact positively on them for the rest of their lives.
